21.9.1, gamers can get a boost in performance from just a simple click of a button. Beginning with our latest version of Radeon Software Adrenalin ver. “Gamers who have a PC powered by the latest AMD Ryzen 5000 series processor and AMD Radeon 6000 series graphics card can now take advantage of a new, simple to use, auto overclocking feature found in AMD Radeon Software. Let’s explore this feature, heavily quoting AMD’s blog post on the matter: Enter NVLink. It seems like new drivers from AMD are always bringing additional features these days, and yesterday the company released Radeon Software Adrenalin version 21.9.1 with – get this – new features! The one that caught my eye was “Auto Overclocking for AMD Powered PCs” (there was also something about Windows 11 support), which requires both a Ryzen 5000 and a not-so-readily-available Radeon RX 6000 GPU. When you’re pushing that many pixels, though, Nvidia’s existing SLI bridge just can’t cut it. But if you want to max out those glorious 4K, 144Hz G-Sync HDR monitors, you’ll need to turn to SLI. Systems with multiple GPUs aren’t very common these days, and a lot of games refuse to support more than one graphics card. The overclocking methods you know and love will still be available. Fear not: Nvidia Scanner is an addition to all previously available overclocking tools. While Nvidia’s trying to bring Scanner support to as many GPUs as possible, it will play nice only with GeForce RTX graphics cards out of the gate.

It won’t help you overclock your memory, though. Good news: Peterson expects the GeForce RTX 20-series to hit higher maximum overclock speeds than its predecessor, and Nvidia Scanner can help you make the most of that improvement. The GTX 10-series graphics cards were famous for being overclocking champs, but few managed to crack 2,100MHz. In a demonstration with Precision X1, Nvidia’s Tom Peterson showed Nvidia Scanner pushing the GeForce RTX 2080-which ships with a 1,710MHz boost clock-all the way to 2,130MHz at 1,068mV.
