Those kinds of people are usually on top of driver updates, so their driver builds probably skew towards "current" more than the average Joe. The end users paid a pretty penny for them, so they're more likely to be enthusiasts. Presumably his rate for fixing cards is cheaper than sourcing another high-end GPU in todays climate, so it's their "cheapest" route to getting back up and running.Īs for the driver version. Instead of turning to AMD (which could probably figure out they were OC'd and deny the claim), they opted to try and get their cards repaired by this guy. My gut is that these folks were overclocking their cards, voided their warranty, and have nowhere else to turn. 6800/6900s are well within their warranty periods, so why are they ending up at a 3rd party repair shop instead of being shipped back to AMD?
